Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Kaibu application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the app.

Kaibu is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. The information provided by this app, including ingredient matching and personalized notes, is informational only. It should never be used as a substitute for:
- Professional medical diagnosis or treatment
- Advice from a doctor, allergist, or registered dietitian
- Reading product packaging and labels
- Following instructions from healthcare providers
Always check the packaging before consuming any product. Food data comes from Open Food Facts, a crowd-sourced database that may be incomplete or outdated. Ingredient information and allergen data can change without notice. We are not responsible for errors, omissions, or changes in product information.
License and Restrictions
Subject to your compliance with these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use this app for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You may not:
- Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels
- Use the app for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Resell, rent, lease, or sublicense the app
- Attempt to access the app through automated means without permission
- Use the app in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
User-Generated Content
When you upload photos to Open Food Facts through the app, you are submitting that content under the Creative Commons BY-SA license. Your photos will be:
- Published publicly on the Open Food Facts website
- Licensed under Creative Commons BY-SA (others can use them with attribution)
- Permanently available online
Location data (EXIF) is stripped from photos before upload, but you should not upload photos containing personal information or other users' faces without consent.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kaibu and its creators are not liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of data, revenue, or profits
- Interruption of service or technical failures
- Inaccuracies or completeness of product data
- Any harm resulting from your reliance on app information
Nothing in these terms excludes our liability for personal injury or death caused by our negligence, or liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Disclaimer of Warranties
This app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure. You use the app entirely at your own risk.
Subscription and Payments
Kaibu Premium includes unlimited ingredient checks, history retention for 30 days, and access to personalized weekly recaps.
Premium is available as a monthly subscription or an annual subscription. The subscription renews automatically each month or year, unless you cancel it in your app store account settings at least 24 hours before your renewal date.
A free 14-day trial is available only for annual subscriptions. After the trial period, you will be charged for a full year of Premium unless you cancel before the trial ends.
Refunds for subscription charges are handled by your app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store) under their own refund policies, not by us. If you have questions about refunds, please contact your app store directly.
Payment for the subscription is taken by your app store, not by us or by any third-party payment processor. Your payment method and card details are handled entirely by the app store.
We comply with all applicable consumer protection and subscription laws in your jurisdiction.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or for any other reason. You can delete your account at any time through the app.
Intellectual Property
Kaibu, including its design, features, and functionality, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Open Food Facts data is available under the Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL), and we comply with those terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the app will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in [Jurisdiction].
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, that provision is severed and the remaining terms continue in full effect.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email.
