How to Delete Your Kaibu Account
In-App Deletion (Recommended)
The easiest way to delete your account is directly from the Kaibu app:
- Open Kaibu and sign in to your account
- Go to Profile
- Tap Settings
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion (this action cannot be undone)
Web-Based Deletion
If you no longer have the Kaibu app installed or cannot sign in, you can request account deletion through this form. You will receive an email confirmation, and we will delete your account within 7 business days.
Note: You must verify your email address to complete the deletion request.
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your Kaibu account, the following information is permanently removed:
- Your account profile (email, username, authentication data)
- Your ingredient preferences and health profile
- Your complete scan history
- Your favorite products list
- Your scan streak data
- Any referral codes or rewards information
- Records of your legal document acceptances
What Is Not Automatically Deleted
- Photos you uploaded to Open Food Facts: These were published to Open Food Facts under the Creative Commons BY-SA license and are part of a public database. We cannot remove them. You can contact Open Food Facts directly for removal requests.
- Third-party service records: Service providers like Clerk, PostHog, and Anthropic may retain records according to their own retention policies. We will request deletion from our service providers, but we cannot guarantee immediate removal from their systems.
Data Retention and Backups
Your data may remain in our automated backups for up to 30 days after deletion. These backups are used only for disaster recovery and are securely stored. After 30 days, all your data will be permanently deleted from all systems.
Deletion Timing
Deletion requests are processed immediately when requested through the app. Web-based deletion requests are processed within 7 business days. You will receive a confirmation email once your account has been deleted.
Your Rights
You have the right to delete your account at any time for any reason, without providing justification. Deletion cannot be undone. If you change your mind, you can create a new account, but you cannot recover your previous data.

International Rights
Users in certain jurisdictions (including the EU, California, and other regions) have specific legal rights regarding data deletion. These rights are in addition to the deletion process described above:
- GDPR (EU/UK): You have the right to erasure under Article 17. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days.
- California CCPA: You have the right to deletion under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We verify your identity before processing.
- Washington MHMDA: Health data deletion requests are processed as outlined above.
